FREMO:87 - The Prototype
As already mentioned on our homepage, FREMO:87 absolutely focuses on the prototype. First of all, we want to give an overview of sources of information about the prototype and in the following we want to introduce some important areas for us.
Literature on railway operations focus on freight traffic
The operation on the FREMO modular arrangements tries to map the railway operation of the prototype as accurately as possible. But where can the interested model railway enthusiast get the knowledge about the prototype? Read more (Unfortunately only in German language)
WIM lists
The WIM lists (in German: Wissen ist Macht = knowledge means power) collect characteristics of rail transport in Germany and show how they have changed over the course of the various epochs. Here you will find answers to frequently asked questions about epoch-specific features, such as when the colour scheme, insertions, and locomotive head lights have changed. Freight transport at the Deutsche Bundesbahn
"Goods belong to the train!" This was the message of the DB years ago. Freight transport plays an important role for the railway companies, for example, in the 1950s, DB generated some 70% of transport revenues from the transport of goods.
The handling of freight transport takes place according to fixed rules. There are also different modes of transport for goods: part load traffic and complete wagon-load (in each case as freight and fast good traffic), express parcel, luggage. This provides many possibilities for not only indiscriminately sending freight wagons through a module arrangement in the model, but also imitating an exemplary freight traffic. Freight transport in the Netherlands in the 1950s
In this article (published in Hp 1, 4th quarter 2006, p. 4ff), an attempt is made to explain how the freight traffic in the Netherlands in the years 1951 to 1960 expired. Already during the second world war, plans were developed by the Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS), which had far-reaching consequences for many railway installations and for the timetables drawn up for freight traffic. This system provides ideas on how to design freight traffic in FREMO. Read more (Unfortunately only in German language)
