Model Railway on modules in H0e Track 9 mm - Scale 1:87
Narrow gauge modules modelling railways operating on 750mm track are common in FREMO nearly from the beginning. They can be operated as a separate layout, but the common approach is to operate a layout combined with standard gauge modules where standard gauge freight cars are handed over to narrow gauge.
Theme
A single track local railway of 750mm to 785mm gauge (approximately 2.5 feet) is represented by a track of 9mm and a scale of 1:87. Operation comprises passenger and freight service, including carrier trucks and cars.
Operations and signaling corresponds to the german “Regeln für den Vereinfachtes Nebenbahnbetrieb" (Regulation for simplifies branch line operation) from 1950. This is the set of operating rules used in the specified time slot 1955-1965, also known as IIIb period in Germany. Catenary is not part of the system, nevertheless some modules with catenary exist.
A rural environment and landscape shall be shown on the modules. It is essential to focus on plausible representation of realistic situations instead of building cute and toyish layouts. Even narrow gauge railways shall be shown as a serious traffic carrier.
The modules shall represent summer season.
Partcipation in H0e
We recommend to join a meeting right as a first step to become familiar with modules, vehicles and the operation. Written documents like standards and recommendations are useful but they cannot provide as much support, guidance and networking as a personal meeting. Planning and building the first modules will benefit a lot from this approach and the chance for overall satisfaction becomes real.
- A complete set of documents consisting of the H0e standard (h0e-norm-07-2022-v1.pdf) and the handbook (handbuch.pdf) are available for free download.
The standard and the handbook are delivered as zipped pdf files, packed 19MB and 13MB and can be unpacked, read and printed with any PDF reading software such as Adobe Acrobat-Viewer (from Version 3.0).
