FREMO:87 goods traffic
„Every business that is to operate efficiently and economically requires a planned design and appropriate order. This is particularly true of public transport companies. They cannot fully satisfy the needs of the public if they only produce good services economically and reliably, which would be sufficient for a factory, for example.
The performance of a good public transport company must also be punctuality in the first place. It requires a particularly high degree of planned order, meticulous precision and strict adherence to the rules of duty, and all the more so because the operation of public transport railways not only serves local needs but also fulfills tasks that connect countries.“ (Fahrdienst auf Betriebsstellen - Stufe III, Eisenbahn-Lehrbücherei der Deutschen Bundesbahn, Band 47, Starnberg 1952, p. 24)
This quote applies particularly to freight transport. How this was handled by the German Federal Railways and the Dutch State Railways in the 1950s and 1960s can be read in the section prototype. The following article deals with the implementation into the model on our modular arrangements.Adaption FREMO:87

"Yellow Pages" and waybills
When it comes to the detailed planning of freight traffic for a module meeting, a compilation of the possible freight offered at other stations is interesting. This way, they cannot be requested anonymously from one of the fiddle-yards as usual, but exceptionally from another station in the arrangement. This makes freight traffic during the meeting really exciting, because certain wagons have to be transported from one operating station to another with the corresponding train formation effort in the en route stations.
To prepare this waybills, the "Yellow Pages" provide information about all goods offered at stations within FREMO:87. This table is compiled by Andreas Reinhard using the station data sheets.

FREMO offers a variety of options for creating waybills; Office tables are very widely used. This table was created for FREMO:87
Guide to select the proper freight wagons
"The freight car service has the task to supply the customers of the Deutsche Bundesbahn with goods wagons and loading devices. The customer can be convinced that the wagon service runs with the punctuality of a clockwork." (Deutsche Bundesbahn: Güterwagen Behälter Paletten Strassenroller Huckepackverkehr, Stand 1. Januar 1960, S. 3)
Annex 4 to DB freight car regulation № I contains an overview of which wagon type is to be used for which freight. This document was also made available as an offprint. For the selection of wagons for model operation, several more legible editions are available here, as is an excerpt from the above-mentioned advertising brochure.
